Braeside Station To Close Early On Weeknights, Shutter On Weekend

Replacement of the Lake-Cook Road crossing will cause road and rail closures starting Wednesday and extending through Oct. 19 .

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — No trains will stop at the Braeside Metra station on the Union Pacific-North line on Saturday or Sunday and the station will early on weeknights starting Wednesday, Metra announced. Lake-Cook Road will be closed at the tracks near the station for the duration of the construction project. Metra said the work will include the removal of rails, rubber panels, asphalt and other elements of the crossing.

On weekdays during construction, the final outbound train serving Braeside Station will be Train 363, scheduled to leave Ogilvie in Chicago at 8:35 p.m. and arrive at Braeside at 9:19 p.m. The final inbound train, Train No. 360, departs Waukegan at 8:10 p.m. and leaves Braeside at 8:39 p.m. Anyone who plans to travel later in the evening must use the Ravinia or Glencoe stations.

Braeside station would be closed for the full day on the weekend of Oct. 13-14. Morning weekday commuter service will be unaffected by the project, Metra said.

Once complete, the crossing will "provide a smoother ride" for drivers and ensure the "continued safety of railroad operations," Metra said in a release.
