'Buyer Beware' In NSSD112, Warns Letter To Editor
Some candidates "ignoring the realities of math and physics," letter says.

What is happening here? We used to be a welcoming and progressive community.
We have candidates running for the 112 Board of Education without vision of what could be. Instead, they cling to what used to be while ignoring the realities of math and physics. When the dust settles on reconfiguring our District, or when nothing happens and we go bankrupt, what will remain? We will have board members who can’t be trusted to negotiate salaries with unions or set policy for the best educational opportunities for all of the District’s students. We will have board members who are so entrenched in their own opinion bubble that they can’t see that we’re no longer a competitive or financially viable District, because they wanted what they wanted when they wanted it, and they got it.

We have a candidate running for City Council that has brought nothing to the conversation other than a willingness to listen, some entertainment, purposefully and not, and a penchant for verbal parlor tricks to persuade in which the truth is merely a suggestion.
We must ask ourselves WHY an individual runs for elected office. Is it because they can or because they CARE? (Pun intended.) Pay attention to the men and women behind the curtain. If it’s a big top, jugglers and shiny objects you want, then you may get just that. Buyer beware!
