Chicago Woman Charged With Endangering Child While DUI: Blotter
Cash, equipment stolen from locked boxes; thefts of 20 estate sale signs reported: Highland Park Police Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone damaged three plate glass windows on the east side of a building in the 700 block of Central Avenue at some point prior to Oct. 19, police were told on Oct. 23.
HOME BURGLARY
A home in the 1600 block of Freesia Circle was found burglarized around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 23. The garage door was found open. The master bedroom and closet had been ransacked. A sliding door was also discovered left open. There was no sign of forced entry and nothing was reported missing.

SHOPLIFTING
Staff at the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, reported on Oct. 28 that around 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 an unidentified man stole more than $314 worth of over-the-counter drugs from the store.
STOLEN CAR/BURGLARIES
Officers determined a 2016 Honda SUV that fled from officers around 3:45 a.m. Oct. 29 was stolen from a home in the 2800 block of Lexington Lane earlier that morning after it was left parked unlocked with the keys inside. Two other cars were also burglarized at the same address, although it was not clear if anything was stolen from them. The stolen SUV was found in Chicago later the same day. Officers investigating the car theft found five other burglarized cars within a block. A wallet was stolen from one of them and about $20 in cash from another. It was not know if anything was stolen from the other cars.

CAR BURGLARIES
- Two people burglarized a trailer in while parked in the 3500 block of Skokie Valley Road prior to 12 p.m. on Oct. 19. Nothing was reported missing at the time of the report.
- A concrete saw and welder worth a combined $1,750 were stolen from the locked storage compartments in the back of a Freightliner truck while it was parked in the 1500 block of Clavey Road prior to 8 a.m. Oct. 20. There were no pry marks or visible damage to the compartments.
- An unlocked Ford SUV was burglarized in the 3100 block of Cottonwood Court prior to 2 a.m. Oct. 24. Nothing was reported missing.
- An unlocked Subaru was burglarized between 7 p.m. Oct. 23 and 5:30 a.m. Oct. 24 in the 1400 block of Cavell Avenue. Someone rummaged through its interior but nothing was reported missing.
- Someone burglarized an unlocked Jeep SUV parked in the 1800 block of Cavell Avenue prior to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 24.
- Someone got into a Jeep and a Mazda parked in the 1900 block of Holly Road between 6 p.m. Oct. 23 and 9 a.m. Oct. 24. Both cars were thought to have been locked, and nothing was reported stolen.
- An unlocked Mercedes was burglarized on the night of Oct. 29 or morning of Oct. 30, with personal protective equipment including masks and gloves stolen from the glove box.
THEFTS
- Someone stole more than $800 from a cash box inside a safe in a locked office of an unspecified business in the 600 block of Central Avenue at some point between 11 a.m. Oct. 19 and 9:15 a.m. on Oct. 20. There were no signs of forced entry to the business.
- Between 6 and 7:45 p.m. on Oct. 26, someone stole seven, empty 5-gallon garbage cans from the parkway in front of a home near the intersection of Saxony and Green Bay roads.
- Twenty "estate sale" signs were reported stolen from public parkway areas around a home in the 2700 block of Roslyn Lane prior to 4 p.m. Oct. 31.
ARRESTS
Cristhian G. Cruz-Velazquez, 22, of the 24600 block of West Norelius Avenue, Round Lake, was arrested around 4 a.m. on Oct. 21 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after an officer observed him appearing to need assistance in the 2500 block of Skokie Valle Road. He was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.
A 20-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 2:15 p.m. Oct. 30 and charged with excessive speeding, 35 mph or more above the limit, following a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road.
Erica Rea, 37, of the 4300 block of South Mozart Street, Chicago, was arrested around 4:30 a.m. Oct. 31 following a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Clavey Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater, contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor and endangering the life of a child. She was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver and operating a vehicle while using an electronic communication device.
