Madame Zuzu's Comedy Showcase Celebrates 1st Anniversary
Stand Up comedy returns to Madame Zuzu's Teahouse in Highland Park for the 1st anniversary showcase of this fantastic performance series.
Comedy returns to Madame Zuzu's Teahouse, in the Ravinia Business District of Highland Park, Friday, July 15th with a lineup of professional stand-up comedians for Highland Park based Funnier By The Lake Comedy's FREE summer showcase. Madame Zuzu's is an eclectic, and definitely funky venue owned by Smashing Pumpkins front man, Billy Corgan.
Funnier By The Lake Comedy began presenting bi-monthly comedy showcases at Zuzu's in August of 2015, and because there is no August show, the July 15th event stands as the 1st anniversary of the series at Madame Zuzu's.

"Our Zuzu's shows are really fun," says Funnier By The Lake Comedy producer, Larry Bloom. "The venue is small, so it fills up quickly, and the audiences have been great. They arrive with a lot of energy and ready to laugh. Producing shows can be a challenge, but these Highland Park shows are a pleasure to put together." Bloom continues.
All of the FBTL shows at Madame Zuzu's are free to attend. There is no cover charge, leaving audience members with some extra cash for the sandwiches, treats and vast selection of teas for sale at the venue.

Funding for marketing the showcases and paying the performers is provided by corporate sponsors. The July 15th event is sponsored by ATI Graphics, Inc., a Highland Park based branding and web development firm, and Improv Playhouse, which is based in Libertyville, Illinois but also has space in Highland Park.
The July show features a diverse lineup of Chicago and suburban comedians, each of whom can be seen performing in the city, the suburbs and throughout the country. Producer Bloom, who also performs, makes an effort to include an equal number of men and women.
