Deerfield Man Charged With Street Racing After Crash: Blotter
Highland Park man accused of endangering child while driving drunk; Port Clinton workout equipment stolen: Highland Park Police Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
SHOPLIFTING
Shortly before 6 p.m. on Dec. 4, a pair of shoplifters, one male and one female, stole numerous fragrances after filling their shopping baskets. The pair fled in a silver Ford Mustang.
THEFT
Two floor sanders rented on Nov. 13 from Mutual Ace Hardware, 1393 Half Day Road, were never returned. The person who rented them paid cash for a one-day rental and provided a credit card that was later declined. The sanders, which have a combined value of $4,200, had not been returned as of Dec. 5.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE/VANDALISM
- Someone damaged workout equipment and stole four sets of dumbbells and a patch of workout turf from the lower level of the Port Clinton parking garage at 601 Laurel Ave. at some point between 7 p.m. Nov. 29 and 3 a.m. Nov. 30 and/or between 6:30 p.m. Dec. 1 and 5 a.m. Dec. 2.
- Officers on routine patrol through in the lower parking garage at Renaissance Place, 1849 Green Bay Road, discovered a damaged "exit" sign hanging in the lot.
- A broken window was discovered at Stupey Cabin, 1709 St. Johns Ave., shortly after noon on Dec. 3. It appeared the glass had been broken from the outside, with pieces of glass found halfway into the interior of the cabin.
- Gang-related graffiti was found spray-painted in the lower level of the parking garage at 799 Central Ave. around 9:45 p.m. on Dec. 6.
ARRESTS
A 19-year-old North Chicago man was arrested around 11 p.m. on Dec. 1 and charged with not having his driver's license on person and speeding 35 mph or more above the limit following a traffic stop at Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue West.

Brandon Giovanni Rodriguez, 24, of the 600 block of Walnut Street, Highland Park, was arrested around 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 2 at his home and charged with two counts of domestic battery.
A 47-year-old Highland Park man was arrested shortly after midnight on Dec. 3 following a traffic stop at Central Avenue and Fredrickson Place and charged with driving with an expired driver's license and speeding 35 mph or more above the limit.
John F. Kossof, 23, of the first block of Parkway North Boulevard, Deerfield, was arrested around 4 p.m. Dec. 4 and charged with street racing and reckless driving following a two-car crash on the Edens Expressway. Police also cited him for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and improper passing on the shoulder. There were no injuries reported from the crash, and both cars involved were towed from the scene.
Danny Hanna, 45, of the first block of Sheridan Road, Highland Park, was arrested around 7:45 p.m. on Dec. 5 following a traffic stop at Sheridan Road and Elm Place and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and endangering the life of a child. He was also cited for improper lane usage and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.
George Henry-Geopaul Harvey, 21, of the 9400 block of 73rd Street in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was arrested around 12:45 a.m. and charged with interference with police and speeding 35 mph above the limit following a traffic stop at Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue.
Christian De Jesus Lozano, 28, of the 5000 block of West Oakdale Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 4:45 a.m. on Dec. 6 following a complaint about a suspicious vehicle parked at the northeastern corner of Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and driving with a suspended or revoked license. He was also cited for illegal transportation of alcohol.
