Diamond Swapped Out of Ring and Fake Put in Its Place

Several cars were also burglarized or rummaged through last week in Highland Park

In late September, a ring containing a center princess cut diamond was taken to a jeweler in Glenview to be mounted on a new setting. It was later verified that the diamond was not real and had been switched out sometime after 1998.

Theft from lockers

Someone opened at least two different locked lockers at a business in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road and stole cash, driver’s licenses, credit cards and an iPhone between 11 and 11:30 a.m. Oct. 22.

Burglary from a motor vehicle

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 1800 block of Northland Avenue overnight Oct. 22 and took an Apple Macbook Pro, Nike LeBron gym shoes, two AT&T gift cards, an Illinois Driver’s License and Maui Jim sunglasses.

Car rummaged through and items strewn about

Sometime between 6:00pm October 22, 2014 and 10:00am October 23, 2014 Someone entered an Acura MDX overnight Oct. 22 and miscellaneous belongings were strewn about a front yard and a neighbor’s front yard in the 1800 block of Garland. No items were reported stolen.

Car rummaged through

A 1998 Toyota was entered while parked in a carport in the 1500 block of Sunnyside Avenue overnight Oct. 22. The interior center console was rummaged through, but nothing was reported missing.
