Firm Seeks Mixed-Use Development in Downtown Highwood
Gart Partners asks city for extension to acquire enough property on Sheridan Road.

Redevelopment in downtown Highwood could be spurred by a mixed-use apartment building that would include retail and office space.
Gart Partners has asked the City of Highwood for a sixth-month extension on their exclusive rights to develop property in the 300 block of Sheridan Road, a tract they seek to acquire through property owners to make way for the new, 7-8 story building.
The Highland Park News reports Gart Partner’s Doug Johnson said the extra time “is needed to obtain signed contracts with all property owners, as well as to negotiate a tax increment financing agreement with the city — a process that typically takes three to four months.”
