Highland Park Bridge To Be Closed 4 Weeks For Repairs
The Beech Street Bridge will be closed for repair starting Monday, city staff announced.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — A bridge closure begins Monday and is expected to last about a month in Highland Park, city officials announced Thursday.
The bridge over a ravine on Beech Street between Wade Street and Linden Avenue in east Highland Park will be closed for repairs. Signs directing traffic to detour using Wade Street and Linden and Cedar avenue will be posted.
Once the work on the Beech Street Bridge is complete, work will begin on the St. Johns Avenue Bridge between Bloom Street and Moraine Road. Those repairs are also expected to take four weeks.

Separately, Highland Park has also received a federal grant to cover 80 percent of the costs of replacing several bridges around the city in the coming years. Construction and engineering of a new Beech Street Bridge are anticipated to take place from 2022 to 2025.
Other bridges set for replacement under the grant program include those on Central Avenue, Clavey Road and Park Avenue West over the Skokie River and Judson Avenue and Wade Street over ravines.
