Highland Park Police Blotter: DUI, Suspended License, Theft

Possession of Cannabis

David Wodis, 51, of the 1300 block of Hiawatha Ct., Highland Park was arrested March 30 and charged with possession of cannabis after police responded to his residence to assist another enforcement agency. Wodis was released on a personal recognizance bond pending an April 22 court date.

Driving While License Suspended

Latisha Hart, 32, of the 600 block of S. Kildare Ave., Chicago, was arrested March 30 and charged with driving while license suspended, uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage after being stopped near Half Day Road and Skokie Valley Road. Hart was released on a personal recognizance bond pending an April 22 court date.

Robert Schaul, 69, of the 1300 block of Sheridan Road, Highland Park, was arrested April 1 and charged with driving while license suspended for DUI and failure to signal lane change after being stopped near the 1000 block of Central Avenue. Schaul was released on a cash bond pending an April 22 court date.

Deonte Franklin, 29, of the 2100 block of Winter Avenue, North Chicago, was arrested April 4 and charged with driving while license suspended and speeding after being stopped near Parkside Drive and Skokie Valley Road. Franklin was released on a personal recognizance bond pending an April 22 court date.

Paul Peatry, 40, of the 7800 block of S. Oglesby, Chicago, was arrested April 4 and charged with driving while license suspended and improper lane usage after being stopped in the 1300 block of Half Day Road. Peatry was released on a personal recognizance bond pending an April 22 court date.

Adetoyinbo Ashaye, 52, of the 1000 block of W. 51st Street, Chicago, was arrested April 4 and charged with driving while license suspended and disobeying a traffic control device after being stopped near the intersection of Central Avenue and Hickory Street. Ashaye was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a May 13 court date.

DUI

Fabiel Hernandez, 29, of the 700 block of Vine Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested April 2 and charged with DUI, driving while license suspended for DUI and disobeying a red light after being stopped in the 600 block of Elm Place. Hernandez was released on a personal recognizance bond pending an April 24 court date.

Rodrigo Rojas, 23, of the 1500 block of W. Park Ave., Libertyville, was arrested April 4 and charged with DUI, speeding and uninsured motor vehicle after being stopped in the 2600 block of Skokie Valley Road. Rojas was released on a cash bond pending a May 8 court date.

Jeffrey Lee, 23, of the 500 block of N. Sheridan Road, Lake Forest, was arrested April 5 and charged with DUI, speeding and improper lane usage after being stopped near Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road. Lee was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a May 8 court date.

Omar Veliz, 32, of the 1500 block of McDaniels Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested April 5 and charged with DUI and driving while license suspended after police responded to a driving complaint in the 1500 block of McDaniels Avenue. Veliz was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a May 1 court date.

Ospas Avelino, 19, of the 1000 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested April 5 and charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, no drivers license and uninsured motor vehicle after police responded to a vehicle that had struck a tree and overturned in the 2000 block of Linden Avenue. Avelino was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a May 8 court date.

Speeding 35+ MPH Over Limit

Arif Nawaz, 40, of the 8000 block of Kilpatrick Avenue, Skokie, was arrested April 4 and charged with speeding 35+ MPH over the limit after being stopped in the 1300 block of Park Avenue. Nawaz was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a May 13 court date.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle

An unknown subject(s) entered an unlocked 2012 Toyota Camry sometime overnight on March 31 while parked in the 300 block of Bloom Street and removed medication. No other items were taken.

A yellow wallet was taken from an unlocked vehicle while parked in the 400 block of Central Avenue between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on April 4. The wallet contained credit cards, cash, a checkbook and other identification.

Criminal Trespass to Vehicle

An unknown person(s) entered an unlocked 2001 Ford Aerostar sometime overnight on March 31 while parked in the 300 block of Bloom Street. No items were taken.

Theft

A white sedan pumped $33 worth of gas and left without paying in the 0-100 block of Skokie Valley Road on April 1.

A 24-inch white Trek bike was reported as stolen from a garage in the 3400 block of Old Mill Road sometime after 5:30 p.m. on April 2.

A Prada wallet was lost and believed to have fallen out of the owner’s pocket at a business in the 1400 block of Park Avenue West on April 3. Credit cards, identification and cash were contained in the wallet.

A blue sedan pumped $30 worth of gas and left without paying in the 0-100 block of Skokie Valley Road on April 4.
