Highland Park Spirit Halloween Store Due To Open For 2020 Season

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — This fall, Halloween is on track to be trickier than ever, as Highland Park families plan for the usually treat-filled holiday amid the coronavirus pandemic .

Whether trick-or-treaters embark on traditional door-to-door candy crawls or families instead improvise backyard treat hunts, the coronavirus can't take take away the joy of dressing up in a Halloween costume of choice.

To that end, Spirit Halloween stores will still be there to help with costumes and decorations than range from creepy to charming.

The company recently announced it plans to open its seasonal shops in 1,400 U.S. locations, including a store in Highland Park. Each store sells costumes, Halloween décor, and accessories for children, teens, and adults.

In Highland Park, Spirit Halloween is located at Crossroads Shopping Center, 151 Skokie Valley Road, Suite A.

"We are less than a month away from our first store openings, and Spirit Halloween is on time and ready to go. We are excited to start welcoming our seasonal team members for Halloween 2020," CEO Steven Silverstein said in a release. "It's been a challenging year, but a Saturday Halloween provides a great escape. We need Halloween now, more than ever."

The Highland Park Spirit store is scheduled to open on Aug. 20, despite an internet hoax that falsely suggested U.S. stores would not open due to a "lack of international commerce."

The world's largest specialty Halloween retailer also is calling for people across America to apply for the many seasonal positions. Each year, the company employs 28,000 seasonal workers.
