Highland Park Youth Football Nonprofit Collects Donations
The Giants Football Fund helps local families experiencing economic challenges cover the costs of playing youth football.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — A new nonprofit to support youth football in Highland Park and Highwood is seeking donations to help underprivileged families cover the costs of youth programs, equipment and high school football.
The Giants Football Fund subsidizes fees for summer camps, fall programs for middle school-aged kids and new gear for all ages.
Moraine Township Trustee Pablo Alvarez, a school counselor and parent at Highland Park High School, is a co-chairman of the new fund.

“Football provides so many beneficial experiences for kids. They enjoy camaraderie, teamwork, leadership, physical fitness, and discipline," Alvarez said in a statement.
"We want to provide this opportunity for ALL kids in our community, particularly the nearly 25% of our Highland Park/Highwood families that experience economic challenges,” he added.

According to group, kids perform better in school and learn valuable career skills when they participate in youth sports.
Donations collected by the fund will go to students living in Highland Park or Highwood who plan to attend HPHS. The cost of supporting a single player is $500.
“We formed GFF as a group of parents with deep ties to the community," Alvarez said. "We will leverage the strong professional talents of our volunteer board to ensure that virtually all money donated is utilized to make football affordable.”
