HPHS Alum Selected In Major League Soccer Draft
Francesco Moore, a member of Highland Park High School's class of 2014, was drafted by the Portland Timbers in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.

CHICAGO — A Highland Park High School alum was selected by the Portland Timbers in the third round of last month's 2019 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
Francesco Moore, 23, is a member of the Class of 2014 at HPHS, where he played his first two years with the Giants and was named to the Central Suburban League all-conference team.
From 2015 to 2018, Moore played at Indiana University as a defensive midfielder and defender. The IU defense topped the Big Ten in shutouts his sophomore year and all of college soccer during his final two years. After a second-place finish in the 2017 College Cup, the Hoosiers won the 2018 Big Ten championship and were national semifinalists.

The Timbers finished the 2018 MLS regular season in eighth place overall before going on a playoff run that saw them win the Western Conference championship, finishing as runners up in the MLS Cup to Atlanta United.
Portland drafted Moore on Jan. 14 as the 71st overall pick. According to the Indiana Daily Student, he was the third Hoosier picked in the 2019 MLS draft.
