Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center Unveils Reimagined Youth Exhibition

Celebration welcomes families with children ages 8 - 12, featuring special guest Gold Medal Olympian Lenny Krayzelburg.

On Sunday, October 16, 2016, Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center will host a family celebration from 11:00am to 2:00pm to mark the opening of the reimagined Make A Difference! Harvey L. Miller Family Youth Exhibition. The event will feature family activities including a talk by Olympian Lenny Krayzelburg, a live performance by Imagination Theater, cookie and art making, and more. Admission is free for kids ages 12 and under. Reservations are required:https://www.ilholocaustmuseum.org/miller-relaunch/

"It’s never too early to talk to our kids about standing up for themselves and others," said Harvey L. Miller, Museum Board of Trustees Member who has supported the youth exhibition since its inception in 2009. "The youth exhibition features lessons from history and highlights today’s Upstanders so that children understand that one voice, one action, one choice, can make a difference in today’s world."

Make A Difference! is a place where families with children ages 8-12 can explore interactive rooms that use video, art, and hands-on activities that help kids navigate their every-day difficulties. With even more multimedia featured in the exhibition, children have fun discovering ways to take a stand for what is right, and parents have a vehicle to talk to their children about situations they’re facing and discuss solutions.

"I love Make a Difference!" said Suzi Gantz, a teacher who worked for Chicago Public Schools for over thirty years. "It is an important resource for parents and educators because it complements character development programs and effectively teaches children how to speak out and stand up for others, with very specific examples."

Program partners include Imagination Theater and JCC Chicago
