4-Story Apartment Complex Could be Built on Site of Former Banquet Hall

The southwest corner of Green Bay Road and Washington Avenue is being eyed by developers.

The former site of Scornavacco's and Washington Gardens in Highwood is being eyed by a group of investors to develop a four-story apartment building.

The half-acre property was most recently known as the Victoria of Highwood, a banquet hall located at the southwest corner of Green Bay Road and Washington Avenue. The banquet hall was closed after a fire in March of 2009 and was ruled accidental by Highwood's fire chief, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Highwood Property Investors and FIDES Capital Partners LLC filed a petition to the city of Highwood to construct a 28-unit apartment building and also applied for Tax Increment Financing (TIF) assistance.
