K9 Pub Strut And Expo Celebrates 10 Years Of Reading Buddies

A fundraising walk for the non-profit K9 Reading Buddies and a free dog-lovers expo is taking place Saturday at Sunset Woods Park.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — A local comfort dog organization is celebrating its 10 year anniversary with a family event featuring a fundraising walk and expo for dog lovers. Set for Saturday at Sunset Woods Park, the K9 Pup Strut and Expo is presented with the Park District of Highland Park and features an all ages one-mile walk – with or without a dog – along with a free expo.

There'll be a variety of dog-themed exhibitors on hand and acitivies including pet portraits, caricatures, dog tricks, massages, demonstrations, raffle drawns, prizes, food and more.

Proceeds from the ticketed walk will go to the nonprofit K-9 Reading Buddies of the North Shore for its literacy and outreach programs. The group's therapy dog teams work with all ages, from getting toddlers interested in reading to assisting hundreds of adult visitors at places like Naval Station Great Lakes. The group also holds monthly library programs, which attract more than 200 children annually to read to a K9 reading buddy team at multiple suburban libraries.
