Lakefront Mansion Once Owned by Russian Tycoon Sold
Sheridan Road home was once part of the estate of a Russian tycoon who owed millions in debt.

A lakefront Sheridan Road mansion in Highland Park that was once part of the estate of a Russian tycoon who died with millions in debt, sold this month for $2.2 million, more than six years after it first hit the market.
The mansion’s asking price had dipped from $5.6 million, when it was first listed in 2009, to the price of sale, according to Crain’s Chicago. It had been in the estate of Mikhail Katamanin, who owned some $7 million to casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City at the time of his 2009 death.
Katamanin actually lived next door to the recently sold mansion, but had family members residing there.
