Lanes Closed As Route 41 Buckles North Of Lake Cook Road

Weather changes led the road to ripple, closing the left lanes of southbound Route 41 in Highland Park through Wednesday evening.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Drivers are asked to avoid southbound Route 41 through Wednesday after weather conditions caused the road to buckle, according to Highland Park city officials. Extreme shifts in temperatures led to the tear in the roadway, leading to heavy delays for commuters. There were no injuries from one reported crash.

The highway's two left lanes south of Clavey Road and north of Lake Cook Road are expected to be closed though Wednesday's commute for repairs.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the route and allow extra times for trips in the area through Wednesday evening, when pavement repairs are expected to be completed, weather permitting. Drivers were reminded to pay close attention to flaggers and construction signs, workers and equipment.
