Letter to the Editor: Support Mayor Rotering's Re-Election
Beth Olderman explains why she's started collecting signatures for Nancy Rotering's re-election campaign.

The following was submitted by Highland Park resident Beth Olderman:
Dear Editor --
It sure feels good to be a Highland Parker! Today I started collecting signatures for the petitions Nancy Rotering needs to run for Mayor of HP. I supported Nancy when she first ran for City Council and for Mayor and am excited to do so again.

After checking out Mayor Rotering’s State of the City report, I’m reminded that there is much to applaud in our town. Nancy leads our City Council in setting clear priorities of infrastructure investment, public safety and fiscal responsibility. These priorities go hand in hand. A perfect example is the many miles of sidewalks installed or streets that have been repaired after being ignored for nearly a decade. These investments make it safer to connect with each other and our businesses. And while the year started out rough weather wise -- our roads were quickly cleared and crumbling infrastructure was repaired immediately so we could get where we needed to go.
City Hall has never been more transparent and accessible. From providing cameras in the pre-session meetings, to the first ever annual report and electronic communications, to the regular usage of social media, we citizens easily and readily have a finger on the pulse of what the City is doing with our money. With external pressures from the State of IL, Mayor Rotering makes sure that we do not feel the pinch in our own backyard. The City maintains a Aaa bond rating, one of only a handful of IL cities to do so.

So when I bump into you at Sunset Foods, the HP Rec Center or strolling along downtown Highland Park, you can bet that I’ll ask for your signature so together we can get Nancy Rotering on the ballot for our April elections.
Your neighbor,
Beth Olderman
