Man Jumps Out Window To Evade Officers, Still Arrested: Blotter
A Highland Park man with an arrest warrant leapt from a second-story window and fled on foot when officers arrived at his house: Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- Someone got into Renaissance Place, 1850 Second Street between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 15 and damaged several pillars, display cases and walls with black spray plaint.
- On the afternoon of June 17, graffiti written in pen was found along the northwest and southwest glass staircases leading down to Port Clinton garage at 600 Laurel Ave., including the entry door and fire extinguisher case. It appeared to contain abbreviations and a heart.

- Someone stole a backpack-worn leaf blower valued at $300 from an open trailer parked in the 1000 block of Saxony Drive between noon and 1 p.m. on June 16.
- Someone wearing all black clothing, a black baseball hat and a white facemask stole a bottle of vodka from the CVS store at 2000
CAR BURGLARIES
- During the night of June 16 or early morning hours of June 17 someone stole a key card and athletic bag containing a wallet from inside a Tesla parked in the 1800 block of Cavell Avenue.
- Someone stole two pairs of sunglasses, car registration paperwork and the key to a business from a Cadillac parked in the 600 block of Calais Circle during the night of June 17 or early morning hours of June 18.
- Someone stole an I-Pass and a plastic case with insurance and registration information from a Toyota parked in the 400 block of Park Avenue between 4 p.m. June 16 and 8:20 a.m. June 19.
- Two unlocked cars parked in a driveway in the 1900 block of McCraren Road were burglarized between during the night of June 18 or morning of June 19, with a shopping bag containing gift cards and expired credit cards stolen from one of them and a bag with a playing card game set valued at $100 was stolen from the other.
ARRESTS
Vladimir Zaslavsky, 53, of the 300 block of East Bay Tree Court, Vernon Hills, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. around June 15 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop near the intersection of Skokie Valley and Old Elm roads. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

Andres C. Lopez, 22, of the 900 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on June 15 after officers were called to his home for a report of a fight. Lopez jumped out of a second-floor window and fled on foot before being taken into custody. Officers learned he had an outstanding arrest warrant stemming from his failure to appear in Lake County Circuit Court. He was also charged with two counts of domestic battery, one count of interfering with the reporting of domestic violence and obstructing a peace officer.
Javier Santos-Luz, 30, of the 2400 block of Hermon Avenue, Zion, was arrested around 3 a.m. on June 17 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater. He was also issued citations for improper stop, failure to reduce speed and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Steven Loring, 64, of the 1300 block of North Western Avenue, Lake Forest, was arrested around 1 a.m. on June 19 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after officers showed up at the scene of a crash where Loring appeared to have driven into a parked car in the 3500 block of Summit Avenue. He was also issued citations for failure to reduce speed and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.
Nancy Lagunas, 34, of the 2600 block of North Newcastle Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on June 19 and charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and driving without a valid license. She was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.
Thomas N. Turrentine, 44, was arrested around 4 p.m. on June 19 at the Walgreens, 655 Elm Place, and charged with felony retail theft.
Ali Akel, 42, of the 7800 block of Dell Court, Darien, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on June 20 on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by DuPage County authorities.
