A Personal Appeal To The City of Highland Park: Letter

Assist in the establishment of Ravinia Brewing Company's brewpub and Witty's Refresher Diner in the Ravinia Business District: Op-Ed

To the City,

First, let me emphasize that this email is coming to you as a longtime resident of Ravinia and represents my personal feelings.

It has been stated that the current issue being addressed by the Ravinia Festival and the Ravinia Brewing Company is a private matter between the two parties.

Yes and NO! Yes as to the perceived legal issues being discussed. But NO as to the future health of the Ravinia Business District and its importance in establishing itself as a destination not only for the Festival season but year round.

The establishment of both the Ravinia Brewing Company and Witty's Refresher as two more sit down venues not only for lunch and dinner but for breakfast as well has long been looked forward to and would be a real boost to the economy and vitality of the RBD.

To the degree that the two parties couldn't come to a compatible resolution, not only would the RBD and the Ravinia neighborhood suffer, the City of Highland Park would as well!

That said, why has the City maintained silence without showing any support for a successful conclusion that would greatly benefit them opinion wise and revenue wise?

Ravinia is not a step-child but a valuable and revered part of Highland Park.

Currently, the two parties are at a stalemate and I strongly believe that some encouragement, in one form or another, would go a long way in helping effect a resolution that is sorely needed and the sooner the better so the two new retail venues can take full advantage of the summer crowd and beyond.

Thank you for any consideration that the City can give to this urgent situation.

Respectfully yours, Doug
