New Stand-Up Show At Studio G Brings Live Comedy To Highland Park
Grab tickets today for Funnier By The Lake Comedy's new stand-up comedy show at Studio G in HP. First show Dec 5. A SHOW NOT TO MISS!

If the trend for Main Street is experiential over retail, then the new Studio G event space at 1799 Green Bay Road in Highland Park is doing something right.
The newly renovated building that sat vacant for many years and had previously been the local Moose Lodge has been transformed into the premier venue for private parties and live entertainment. The recent grand opening treated hundreds of guests to a sample of everything that Studio G has to offer, from food and drink from local restaurants and caterers, to music performed live on stages located on the main and lower levels of the facility.

Studio G’s opening also makes possible the return of live stand-up comedy in town, which debuts Thursday, December 5th. Highland Park’s Funnier By The Lake Comedy (FBTL) is excited to once again bring the only live stand-up comedy to town, and looks forward to regularly scheduled shows in what is being called Studio G’s Comedy Cellar as well as special shows in the larger main floor performance space.

The first show, next week, features several Chicago comedy club and indie favorites, local north shore talent and headlines national comedy club headliner Rob Christensen. Brooklyn raised, Rob’s burgeoning writing and performing credentials include appearances on This Is Not Happening and Adam Devine’s House Party, both on Comedy Central, as well as NBC’s Last Comic Standing and he recently recorded a half hour comedy special for EPIX channel. Highland Park is the veteran U.S. Air Force Sergeant’s first stop on a limited Midwest tour.
FBTL produces and hosts many comedy shows across the north suburbs and in the city, many co-produced by Best Corporate Comedy, also based in Highland Park.

Many local residents were fans and regular attendees of FBTL’s stand-up comedy shows that ran for nearly three years at Madame Zuzu’s Tea House on Roger Williams Avenue, until the popular café closed in March of 2018.

While busy adding new shows at venues across the north suburbs, FBTL has been looking for the right venue partner for ongoing live comedy in Highland Park and seems to have found such a professional relationship with Studio G and its Director, Meredith Dodson.
