Featured Obituary:

Lillian H. Shepard, 98, passed away on April 15, 2021 in Lake Forest, IL. She was born on August 25, 1922 to Joseph and Hazel (nee Hunter) Hairston in Lake Forest, IL. Lillian was a public school teacher for many years as well as the co-owner of Jim’s Livery.

She is survived by her loving niece Rochelle (James) Duff Davis and two nephews Rudolph (Donna) Duff, Jr., and Joseph (Alice) H. Duff; her loving grandnieces and grandnephew Gingi (Jason) F. Wingard, Laura (Jason) J. Stephenson, and Rahsaan (Markesha) Duff-Tatum. She was preceded in death by her loving husband James Shepard; her loving parents; and her loving sisters Margaret Hairston and Josephine V. Duff.

A service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 Vine Ave., Lake Forest, IL 60045. She will be laid to rest next to her loving husband immediately following the service at Lake Forest Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to The First Baptist Church of Lake Forest, the nurturing rock to so many Black Lake Foresters, in memory of the family and friends of Lillian Shepard.
