Police Make 7 DUI Arrests in Highland Park Over July 4th Weekend

Aggravated driving under the influence

July 1: Melissa Sauder (33) of the 3000 block of West Addison Street, Chicago, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving under the influence of drugs after police responded to a two car accident in the 1400 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Sauder was transported to bond court at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan pending court date.

Consumption of alcohol by minor

July 3: Ryan Ganshirt (19) of the 200 block of E. Witchwood Lane, Lake Bluff was issued an administrative citation for consumption of alcohol by minor with a court date of August 1, 2013 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue after police responded to a public complaint in the 0-100 block of Cliff Road.

Possession of alcohol by minor

July 4: Nicole Darian (20) of the 9300 block of Springfield, Evanston was issued an administrative citation for possession of alcohol by minor with a court date of August 1, 2013 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue after being stopped by police entering Ravinia Festival with alcohol concealed in a cooler.

Criminal trespass to property

July 4: Salvador Vergara (18) of the 200 block of Washington, Highwood and Bean Falcon (18) of the 200 block of Oak Ridge Road, Highwood were each issued an administrative citation for criminal trespass to property with a court date of August 1, 2013 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue after being stopped by police for entering a restricted area near the fireworks launch site.

Driving under the influence

July 5: Hector Campos (29) of the 29 W 500 block of Country Ridge Drive, Warrenville, Illinois was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, uninsured motor vehicle, speeding and driving while license suspended after being stopped by police in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Campos was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 2, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois. Campos was also wanted on a failure to appear warrant from Tazewell County for a traffic offense and posted a cash bond.

July 6: Samuel Han (26) of the 0-100 block of Crestland Road, Indian Creek was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after police responded to a report of an unresponsive person parked in a gas station parking lot in the 0-100 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Han was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of July 26, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

July 6: Manuel Ortiz-Martinez (31) of the 2300 block of N. Marmora, Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, no valid driver’s license and disobeying a traffic control device after police responded to a report of driving complaint near the intersection of Half Day Road and Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Ortiz-Martinez was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of July 26, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

July 6: Ryan Nedoss (18) of the 2600 block of Roslyn Lane, Highland Park was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and disobeying a traffic control device after being stopped by police near the intersection of Sheridan Road and Elm Place, Highland Park. Nedoss was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 2, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

July 6: Heidi Sabitt (49) of the 200 block of Prairie Avenue, Highwood was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, battery, criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to residence after police responded to a report of a subject breaking a window on an apartment in the 600 block of Park Avenue West. Sabitt was then stopped by police near the intersection of Prairie Avenue and Green Bay Road. Sabitt was released on a cash bond with a court date of July 26, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

July 8: Jose Castillo (33) of the 200 block of Burchell Avenue, Highwood was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, open transportation of alcohol, uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage, driving while license suspended and disobeying a traffic control device after being stopped by police near Half Day Road and Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Castillo was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 16, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Criminal damage to property

July 2: Police are investigating a report of a criminal damage to property. It was reported that graffiti was located written on glass in black marker at a business in the 600 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park.

July 2: Police are investigating a report of a criminal damage to property. It was reported that a vehicle was parked in a lot near the intersection of Laurel Avenue and St. Johns Avenue and when the owner returned noticed 2-3’ scratches were located on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The damage occurred between 8:00am and 11:45am.

Theft

July 6: Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that a black Infiniti brand “wind deflector” was missing from the back seat of a vehicle. The theft was noticed on 07/06/2013 at approximately 11:15am while in the Chase Bank parking lot at 513 Central Avenue, Highland Park.
