Referendum Addresses Schools' Critical Needs

Over the past 20 months, I, along with more than 100 industry experts and community residents, have studied the physical and educational conditions of both Deerfield and Highland Park High Schools and found the following:  

• The schools have structural/masonry issues, 
• The schools have safety issues, 
• The schools have ADA compliance issues,
• The schools have ventilation issues,
• The schools electrical infrastructure cannot support modern learning,
• The schools have heating and air conditioning issues, and
• The schools’ pools are nearly 50 years old and need replacement.

Experts have crafted a master plan and recommended the critical elements to be addressed with referendum and operating dollars. By supporting the referendum we are not passing the problem on to our children or future Deerfield and Highland Park residents.

You must decide if you trust the industry experts and many residents who worked thousands of hours, to help craft the rehab plan we need for our children and our community.

Simply put, our school facilities are not satisfactory and of the same standard as our neighboring community schools like Lake Forest, Stevenson, and Glenbrook North. 

I have spent twenty years in the development business and rehabilitated dozens of buildings. Based on my experience, I support the investment that the referendum will provide to our community. I hope you will as well.
