Shop Local For Bargains At The Highland Park Sidewalk Sale

Merchants from all over town are bringing their goods to the central business district for special savings and deals starting Thursday.

The 2019 Highland Park Sidewalk Sale runs from Thursday, July 25, to Saturday, July 27. Sunday, July 28, is optional, according to the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce, the event's sponsor.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Businesses around Highland Park are participating in the city's annual sidewalk sale through the weekend. Shoppers can find special bargains, promotions and other deals on all sorts of items from dozens of local merchants who bring their merchandise to the sidewalks of the city's central business district.

The event is free and parking is available at the Port Clinton and Renaissance Place public garages, as well as in several downtown lots and on the street.

During the sale, the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce is hosting the a new family event called "Kids, Rigs and Heroes."

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the corner of St. Johns and Central avenues, the event will featured the opportunity for kids to touch and climb inside a firetruck, a Highland Park Police Department cruiser, a Highland Park Fire Department ambulance, a U.S. Marine Corps Humvee, a construction vehicle and the Highland Park Public Library's READmobile.

"This is a great opportunity for our children to meet and talk with some of the everyday heroes in our community. The men and women who keep us safe daily, work to keep our community running smoothly, and serve and protect our country – they are all heroes," said Ginny Glasner, president and CEO of the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce, announcing the event. "Who can resist a cool Fire Engine or Humvee?"
