A lawsuit has been filed against an automaker on behalf of a Highland Park couple who died in June due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
Pasquale and Rina Fontanini were found unresponsive in their Golf Avenue home June 15.
An investigation determined Pasquale Fontanini likely heard the carbon monoxide detector alarm go off, found the family car with keyless ignition running in the attached garage and opened the overhead garage door to release the carbon monoxide, according to the news report.

The suit, filed in Lake County against Ford and Lincoln motor companies, and Libertyville Lincoln Sales Inc., where the couple bought their car, for not providing an automatic engine shut-off, according to the Chicago Tribune.
