Homewood, Flossmoor Named 'Hottest' Suburban Real Estate Markets

Data from a Crain's Chicago study indicates Homewood and Flossmoor are two of the top four "hottest" markets in suburbia.

Homewood and Flossmoor make up two of Chicago’s “hottest suburban real estate markets,” according to a report from Crain’s Chicago. Crain’s used data from the Chicago Association of Realtors from the first six months of the year to determine the four suburban communities to highlight. The other “hot” suburban markets were Winthrop Harbor and Beach Park.

The Crain’s article pointed out how the four communities featured are bookends of Chicago suburbia in Illinois. Homewood and Flossmoor are on the far south near Indiana and Winthrop Harbor and Beach Park are the northernmost communities of the state near the Wisconsin border.

The data used included number of sales, median home sale price and the average time a listed home spends on the market, according to Crain’s.
