Big TV Advice for Your Man-Cave Hibernation

The perfect size for sports, what 4k ultra high definition is worth, and a look at a few Chicago Bears man caves.

While fall has yet to set in, now is the time to start thinking about hibernation season in the man cave. Before long, the trees will be bare and playoffs will be near. And we fully expect our Chicago Bears to be in the playoffs.

Paul Theriault, owner of Acoustical Vision, a home theater installer based in Forest Park, shared his thoughts on the latest in a man-cave essential, thehome theater system, with our friends at Angie’s List in Chicago.

A 65-inch screen is the perfect size for sports,Theriault told Angie’s List. A 1080p set costs about $1,500.

And 4K ultra high definition is hot, but Fox Sports is the only network shooting football with 4k cameras. You’ll pay $3,000 for a 65-inch unit. Smaller sets start at about $1,000. “The quality is outstanding,” Theriault says. “It’s like putting another window into your wall.”
