Clean Up on Huntley Day
Events planned around Huntley to help you clean out your closet.

Huntley is offering services around town to help residents do their spring cleaning on Saturday, April 27.
Dumpsters will be located at Public Works on East Main Street and Donald Drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will be on hand to help drop off items. A list of acceptable items is on the village’s website.

COM2 Recycling Solutions will be taking any unwanted electronics at the Municipal Complex Parking lot at 10987 Main St. Items like computers, printers and video game consoles will be accepted.
AMS Store and Shred will also be on hand, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., to shred documents. Participants will receive a certificate of destruction for materials.

Huntley Police will be participating in National Take Back Day Medication Disposal Event, which is being held throughout the area, for residents to drop off unused medications at the police department, 10911 Main Street, between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Newspaper Recycling will be offered at the Huntley Area Public Library Paper Drive - containers located in the Library parking lot, 11000 Ruth Road. Volunteers will be on hand from 9 a.m. to noon and will be giving out a free, reusable Friends Foundation bag for those that drop off newspapers. (Phone books or cardboard will not be accepted).
The day includes activities like a tour of the West Wastewater Treatment Plant, off West Main Street on Kreutzer Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tours take about an hour.
Families can enjoy a free movie, Chimpanzee by Disneynature, at the Huntley Rec Center, 12015 Mill St., from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The film introduces families to Oscar, a chimpanzee who lives deep in the African rainforest. Concessions will be available for purchase. Sponsored by the Huntley Park District.
The Culvers Kids Coloring Contest is going on now. Children can pick up a sheet at village hall, the library or Huntley Park District then bring the colored work to Culver’s now through April 27 and get a free scoop of custard.
