Driver Killed After Mustang Hits Fence, Bursts Into Flames: Cops

Police believe the driver was an adult male and say the vehicle caught fire after hitting a fence, rolling over and hitting a tree.

BURLINGTON, IL — Police in Kane County said the driver was killed when a Ford Mustang left the road, struck a wooden fence, rolled over and then hit a tree before bursting into flames late Monday near Burlington. Due to the injuries sustained in the fire, authorities have not yet been able to positively identify the driver, believed to be an adult male.

A Kane County Sheriff's investigation indicates the Musting was headed west on Burlington Road going into a curve when it crossed into the eastbound lane, then left the road, hitting the fence before rolling over and coming to rest against the tree, where it caught fire.

The driver was the sole occupant of the car, police said. The crash occurred at around 10:30 p.m.
