Huntley Citizens Police Academy Applications Available
The Huntley Citizens Police Academy will meet on Wednesday nights from March through May.

HUNTLEY, IL - The Huntley Police Department is now accepting applications for its upcoming Citizen Police Academy. The academy will run from March 14 through May 23 and meet every Wednesday night from 7-9 p.m. at the Huntley Police Department, 10911 Main St.
From a Huntley Police Nixle alert: "The Citizen Police Academy is an eleven week program designed to give participants a working knowledge of the Huntley Police Department. It consists of a series of classes and discussions which provide an overview of the various areas of law enforcement. It is an educational and informative program that allows citizens the opportunity to learn about the issues that affect law enforcement efforts in the Village of Huntley."
"Graduates of the program are not certified police officers, however they are prepared with a better knowledge of how law enforcement agencies operate."

Applicants to the free program must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check. Applications are available at the police station and can be filled out online here.
Some graduates may decide to join the Huntley Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association, which provides continuing education and volunteer opportunities with the department.
