The first planned construction-related library closure will happen from September 5th through the 14th of 2020. While the library will be closed, all book drops will be closed and locked. We expect to reopen again on September 15th. No Huntley items, no matter where they were checked out, will be due during our closure. Items checked out from other libraries to patrons are included in the due date extension. Due dates will be extended to September 15th.

The reason for the closure is that ComEd and the trades will be carrying out a utility relocation project. As a result, we will be completely dark and without power during that time. Most digital services and programs will be available during the closure.
We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to September 15, 2020 when we are open to the public again. When we do reopen, you are free to browse the collection, get help locating an item, copy or fax, get a library card, and, of course, check out some great books, movies, or music to enjoy at home. Unfortunately at this time, we are still unable to offer seating or newspapers to enjoy while you visit and we request that guests keep their visits to the library short. Masks will still be required to enter the library.

There is some good news that will also take place during the closure. 2 libraries will be joining the our consortium with a go-live date of September 9th. There will be a few days where you will not be able to access your account online. During the offline period (evening of September 4th through September 8th), you won’t be able to login to place holds or pay bills.
We are also happy to announce that we will be open on Sundays beginning on Sunday, September 20th, returning us to regular operating hours for all days of the week.
PLEASE NOTE: For your safety, items are quarantined for up to 7 days before they are checked back in. you will still see Items on your account during this time, and may still receive automated due date notices. Keep calm & Read on.
