Report of Needle in Halloween Candy Is Not True: Huntley PD

Huntley police launched an investigation into the incident last week and that report was later found to be unfounded.

HUNTLEY, IL — The Huntley Police Department has determined a report made by a child regarding a needle inserted into his Halloween candy is not true, authorities said late last week. The child made up the story, authorities said.

No criminal charges will be filed "due to the age of the juvenile," according to an update posted on the Huntley Police Department Facebook page. The child's parents will be handling any consequences regarding the false report, police said.

On Wednesday, a Huntley resident called police to report their child had found a large sewing needle inside a Kit Kat bar, police said. The Huntley resident said the candy came from the Talamore subdivision in Huntley. The child said they didn't realize the needle was inside until biting into the candy, according to a post on the Huntley Police Department Facebook page.
