Route 47 Farmland Could Turn Into Event Venue
Huntley trustees applauded an idea for new owners to transform a barn into an event venue on Route 47.

HUNTLEY, IL - A local couple has hopes of turning nearly three acres of farmland they bought on Route 47 in Huntley into an elegant event venue that could become the home for future wedding, graduations and reunions. Barb and Chris Lincoln presented initial plans for their idea to village trustees in Huntley during a recent meeting, My Suburban Life reports.
Village board members seemed open to the idea but warned of the large amount of work it might take to get the existing barn buildings on the property at 8401 Route 47 up to code. The buildings on site "are really dilapidated," Trustee Harry Leopold said.
Barb Lincoln said the hope is that the site, which has a barn that dates back to 1957, can open as an event venue by next summer. It will first need to be approved by the Illinois Department of Transportation since it sits right along Illinois Route 47, which extends from Champaign, Illinois to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
