13 Joliet-Area Students Headed to State Music Fest

The Plainfield South High School students will perform at the Illinois Music Educators Association District IX Festivals for jazz, choir, band and orchestra.

Thirty-seven District 202 high school students, including 13 from Plainfield South in Joliet, will take part in the Illinois Music Educators Association District IX Festivals for jazz, choir, band and orchestra.

Students were selected after performing at the District IX Senior Jazz Festival at Naperville Central High School on Nov. 16 and/or at the Senior Band/Chorus/Orchestra Festival at Aurora East High School on Nov. 23.

In advance of the festivals, students will receive music so they can practice. At the District IX Festival, they will rehearse all day under a top college conductor before performing with other students from across the area as part of the District IX choir, band or orchestra.

Later this fall, the students will learn if they have qualified to perform at the ILMEA All-State Conference held in Peoria in January.
