15-Year-Old In Stolen Car Flees Joliet, Crashes In Mokena: Cops
The incident unfolded shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday. Joliet police halted the chase on Interstate 80 for safety reasons.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police have arrested a 15-year-old boy who stole a car in Bolingbrook and fled Joliet along Interstate 80 early Wednedsay morning, according to police. With the help of the Will County Sheriff's Office, the boy was captured in Mokena and Joliet police charged him with aggravated fleeing and eluding, aggravated resisting a peace officer and possession of a stolen car.
Shortly before 2 a.m., Joliet squad cars pulled up to the 100 block of Beach Street looking for a car that was stolen earlier Wednesday night in Bolingbrook.
"Officers located the vehicle stopped on Beach Street and attempted to make contact with a juvenile standing outside of the vehicle," Joliet police said. "The juvenile entered the vehicle and attempted to drive away."

The boy led Joliet police on a high speed chase, however, officers halted the chase for safety reasons as the boy fled eastbound along Interstate 80.
Several minutes later, Joliet police learned the boy driving the stolen car crashed in Mokena near Birch Avenue and Cherry Street in Mokena and sheriff's deputies captured him.

The boy was returned to Joliet and he is now in the custody of the River Valley Juvenile Justice Center, police said.
