Coroner IDs 2 Victims From Jefferson Street Crash
Joliet police have investigated multiple deadly and serious crashes in May. The overnight fatality at Raynor and Jefferson is the latest.

JOLIET, IL — Two people were killed around 2:45 a.m. Monday when the driver of a sedan missed a curve in the roadway on Jefferson Street near Raynor Avenue. The car slammed into a tree and split in half, according to a Joliet Police Department news release.
The Will County Coroner's Office announced that one of the victims has been identified as 31-year-old Jonathan Bundley of Chicago. The second fatality victim was William Burke III, a 55-year-old Chicago man, the coroner announced.
On Monday morning, Joliet police said one person was ejected from the car was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person inside the car was also killed, police said. A third occupant of the car was taken to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in critical condition, authorities said.

"A preliminary investigation of the accident indicates that a sedan was eastbound on West Jefferson Street approaching Raynor Avenue, at which time it appeared the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway," Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English told Joliet Patch.
"The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree and traffic signal, causing the vehicle to break apart," English said. "A male occupant was ejected from the vehicle. This male and an additional occupant of the vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene. A third occupant was extricated from the vehicle and was transported to Amita St Joseph Medical Center with serious injuries. This accident is currently under investigation by the Joliet Police Traffic Unit."
