JOLIET, IL - At Tuesday night's Joliet City Council meeting, elected officials voted to classify four homes in different areas of Joliet as public nuisances. The misfit properties are at 1011 Summit Street, 622 Central Avenue, 1512 North Broadway Street and 356 Whittier Avenue. A memo from new city manager David Hales indicates the four houses are either vacant, dilapidated, boarded up or fire damaged.
"Proper notice has been mailed to all property owners and demolition proceedings will be pursued," Joliet's City Hall vowed.
Here's some background history on the four Joliet houses now on the city's radar for being bulldozed.
