Truck Loses Bread Load in 3-Vehicle Crash on I-80

No one in injured in crash, which spilled rolls and biscuits into the roadway, according to the Illinois State Police.

Updated post/3 p.m. Wednesday:

One semi-truck sideswiping another on westbound Interstate 80 Wednesday morning caused a load of rolls and biscuits to be spilled into the roadway, Illinois State Police said.

The collision occurred at about 10:10 a.m. just west of U.S. 30 in Joliet, Trooper Guy Vancina said. The first truck was attempting to merge into the left-hand lane in order to avoid a vehicle coming into traffic when it collided with the second truck, causing that vehicle to split and pore its load onto the pavement, he said.

The force of collision also caused the sideswiped truck to strike a passenger vehicle, Vancina said.

There were no injuries, he said.

Both lanes of traffic were closed for about a half hour, but it required another three hours for all the debris to be removed and all lanes of traffic reopened, he said.

The crash remains under investigation, and no tickets had been issued as of 3 p.m. Wednesday.
