Beating Suspect Jumps Out Window, Victim Seriously Hurt

Nine days after the incident on Joliet's McRoberts Street, a Will County judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of Albert Brooks, 46.

JOLIET, IL — A Will County judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of 46-year-old Joliet resident Albert Brooks in connection with the beating of a woman at his residence in the 200 block of McRoberts Street. On May 10, Brooks jumped out a window in the 300 block of Joliet's Ottawa Street seriously injuring himself, the Joliet Police Department said.

The arrest warrant for Brooks was issued Wednesday. The Will County State's Attorney's Office has charged Brooks with aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery.

According to Joliet police, officers responded to the house on McRoberts Street around 6:30 p.m. on May 10 to do a welfare check on Brooks, and officers found the front door wide open.

"Officers checked the interior of the residence at which time they located a female adult victim with a serious head injury," Police Sgt. Dwayne English informed Joliet Patch.

A Joliet Fire Department ambulance was called to bring the injured woman to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center.

That night, Joliet police determined that Brooks had beaten the woman, who was a relative of his, according to police.

"A short time later, officers responded to the 300 block of North Ottawa Street in reference to Brooks, who had jumped out of a window, causing serious injuries," English stated.

Another Joliet Fire Department ambulance was needed. This one brought Brooks to Silver Cross Hospital.

As of Thursday, Will County Jail records did not list Brooks as being an inmate.
