Black Road Drive-By: Boy, 14, Almost Hit By Gunfire, Joliet Police Say

JOLIET, IL ? The Joliet Police Department handled two separate shootings on Thursday, and the first one happened after school let out. A 14-year-old boy was almost shot by a drive-by gunman in the 1700 block of Black Road, police said.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 2:52 p.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of Black Road for a report of shots fired. Officers learned that someone fired shots at a 14-year-old boy who was walking in the area.

English said the gunfire came from the passenger seat of a vehicle that was eastbound on Black Road. During a canvass of the area, officers saw that two vehicles and a garage door in the 1700 block of Black Road had been struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported.
