Fans of Irish vampires, deep time psychosis, and “literary nonsense” are invited to what may be the most unusual virtual book release party – including real food -- in 2021.

The free event to mark the release of “Ruthless,” by Ed Calkins will be held on Zoom from 7 to 8 p.m. on February 13, 2021 which, not coincidentally, is “Calkins Day.”

The event is presented by the team behind the “Bryony” book series.

“Ruthless,” by Ed Calkins, Steward of Tara, is a work of absolute literary nonsense about the last seven seconds in the life of an Irishman and his afterlife as an Irish vampire, most of which never happened.

Calkins and his sidekick “The Goddess” will chat about author collaborations, how to legally fictionalize a real person, astro-time physics and other topics near and dear to Calkins.

He will also answer questions but doesn’t necessarily promise participants will understand the answers. Calkins will also randomly give away three copies of “Ruthless.”

Local author and WriteOn Joliet co-leader Tom Hernandez will emcee.
