Brandon Road Bridge Reopening Delayed Several Days

The Brandon Road bridge in Joliet was closed for repairs on Monday, November 5.

The Brandon Road bridge in Joliet was tentatively scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, but that did not happen. Instead, the Illinois Department of Transportation officials issued a press statement on Tuesday afternoon indicating the bridge won't be ready to reopen until around Nov. 30 "due to ongoing mechanical issues."

The bridge was closed for repairs on Monday, November 5 and was originally expected to reopen on Friday, November 9.

While the bridge was under repair, motorists were detoured over the Des Plaines River at McDonough Street via U.S. 6 U.S. 52/Illinois 53 and Laraway Road and urged to allow extra time for trips.
