Bull Elk Hit Near Joliet Along I-55: WJOL
Authorities later determined that the bull elk's antler tags indicated that the wild animal came from Kendall County.
JOLIET, IL ?You see a lot of dead animals along the corridors of Interstate 80 and Interstate 55 near Joliet including plenty of deer, but seeing a dead elk is a rarity. But not this week, Joliet's news radio station WJOL is reporting photos taken of a 600 lb bull elk that lost its life along the southbound stretch of Interstate 55 near I-80.
Heavy machinery was summoned by the Illinois Department of Transportation and because the elk was tagged, authorities realized it came from all the way over in Kendall County, according to WJOL.
