Chicago Street Closed, Woodruff Bypass to Open: City
The Chicago Street closure between Cass and Webster streets is only during the day through Wednesday. The new bypass opens to the public on Tuesday.

Two traffic changes in Joliet -- one temporary and other permanent -- that may affect your travel.
1. Chicago Street, between Cass and Webster, will be closed during the day daily today through Wednesday. The road will reopen to traffic in the evening, and traffic control and a detour will be posted.
2. The newly constructed Woodruff Road Bypass will open to traffic at noon Tuesday. It's located between Collins Street (IL Route 171) and existing Woodruff Road, on the east side of the CN Railway tracks.
The $2.8 million bypass roadway was funded by CN Railway and allows for the permanent closure of the at-grade railroad crossing on Woodruff Road, east of Collins Street.
Included in the bypass roadway construction costs was the relocation of the Illinois Department of Corrections shooting range from the Woodruff Road
site to a newly constructed shooting range site at the Stateville Prison Property.
For more information on either project, call the City of Joliet Department of Public Works at 815-724-4200.
