Closed 2 Years, Steak-N-Shake Reopens In Joliet
Joliet's Larkin Avenue restaurant closed in May 2019. On Thursday morning, banners on the windows proclaimed a free french fry giveaway.

JOLIET, IL — The Steak-N-Shake on Joliet's Larkin Avenue closed in May 2019. Now, nearly two full years later, it's back in business. On Thursday morning, large banners were draped across the restaurant proclaiming that everyone will get free french fries upon request.
Shortly after 11 a.m., three vehicles were in the drive-thru lane waiting to pick up their food.
The restaurant's general manager, Gigi Liccardi, told Joliet Patch during a phone interview that she is glad to be back.

For the time being, the indoor restaurant is off-limits diners. However, the drive-thru is open, people can come inside to place their carryout orders or use the restaurant website for online ordering.
The Larkin Avenue Steak-N-Shake is also working with DoorDash and Grubhub and customers can do curbside pickup.

The Larkin Avenue Steak-N-Shake at 201 South Larkin Ave. is next to the Quality Inn Hotel.
"We want to serve Joliet and we want be a good asset," Liccardi told Patch on Thursday morning. "We are proud to be back."
Joliet has a second Steak-N-Shake along Plainfield Road near the Target store.
The Larkin Avenue restaurant general manager wanted to remind customers that her Steak-N-Shake "has a $4 meal menu" and "we do catering also."
The Larkin Avenue Steak-N-Shake is now open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
