Man Threatens To Smack Joliet Thrift Store With Shovel: Police

Joliet police arrested the 40-year-old Joliet man at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store on West Jefferson Street.

JOLIET, IL — A 40-year-old Joliet man was arrested late Friday afternoon inside the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store on West Jefferson Street after police say he became unruly and threatened several people in the store with a shovel.

Around 4:30 p.m., Joliet police came to the business and put Bobby Robinson in handcuffs. He was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful use of a weapon, criminal trespass to property and disorderly conduct, police reported.

The thrift store is located in the 1800 block of West Jefferson Street. Joliet police were first notified that a man was causing a disturbance inside.

"It was determined that Robinson was inside the store after being told to leave on numerous prior occasions," police said. "Robinson was told to leave by staff at which time he picked up a shovel and threatened store employees with it. Robinson eventually put the shovel down and left the store. Officers located Robinson nearby and placed him into custody without incident."
