Crane Devours Old State's Attorney Building In Joliet
Contractors are tearing down the former Will County State's Attorney Office Building across from the Rialto.

JOLIET, IL - Earlier this week, former Will County Chief Judge Ed Masters sat in his car at Cass and Chicago Streets and tried to stop the Alliance Demolition company from dropping off a crane a block away. We may never know what was going through his head at the time, but on Friday the Alliance Demolition company was rocking and rolling going to town on the tear down of the former Will County State's Attorney's Office building, 121 N. Chicago St.
Since it was a beautiful day, a number people were outside in the downtown to watch the event.
The razing is part of a Will County government and city of Joliet partnership related to the construction of the new courthouse and the upcoming reconfiguration of Chicago Street. Demolition of the professional office building will allow the city of Joliet to expand the downtown City Center plaza to make it much more attractive.

The work is slated to be finished by early summer. The city wants to have the lot cleared in time for two major downtown Joliet events: the Joliet Public Library's Annual Star Wars Day on June 2 and the Joliet Chamber's annual New Orleans North festival on June 8.
