Driver Crashes into Tobacco Store on Plainfield Road
The man who damaged Stop 30 Cigarettes and Cigars said he was accelerating to avoid a collision and ended up in the store instead, the owner said.

A man who drove through the doors of Stop 30 Cigarettes and Cigars on Plainfield Road Friday afternoon was trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle, the store owner said.
The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. at the 2416 Plainfield Road store, located just north of Caton Farm Road, Muhammad Shamsi said. The driver told Shamsi he hit the gas as he was attempting to get out of the way of another car and ended up going through the store's two front doors, Shamsi said.
The driver was not injured, and was able to drive his minivan from the scene, he said. The store remains open, he said, and repairmen were on site Friday night to create a makeshift entrance that will serve until the doors can be replaced.
"We're losing business for sure," Shamsi said. "Some people are coming because they're curious (about what happened). ... We're still open."
