Drunken Joliet Driver With 2 Warrants Crashes On Glenwood: JPD
Joliet police arrested 48-year-old Gabriel Alvarez on Monday night on felony drunken driving charges following a head-on collision.

JOLIET, IL — A 48-year-old Joliet man under the influence of alcohol got into a head-on collision on Glenwood Avenue during Monday night's snowstorm, Joliet police reported. Alvarez was booked into the Will County Jail around 11:40 p.m. on felony charges of aggravated DUI, DUI-BAC 0.08 or higher and two active Will County arrest warrants, Joliet police announced.
Joliet police say Alvarez got into the head-on crash around 8 p.m. near Glenwood and Hammes Avenues. Nobody was injured in the wreck, reports indicate.
"Officers determined that Alvarez was operating a vehicle traveling eastbound on Glenwood Avenue at which time his vehicle veered into the westbound lanes of Glenwood Avenue and struck a vehicle head on," police reports show. "While speaking with officers, Alvarez indicated signs of possible alcohol impairment."

Patrol officers realized Alvarez had two active Will County arrest warrants, both for failing to appear in court to face traffic charges, police said.
Will County Jail records indicate that Alvarez has several pending criminal charges from recent years involving driving without a license, driving on a suspended license and driving while uninsured.

Following Monday night's collision, Alvarez failed sobriety tests at the Joliet Police Department, police repots show.
Alvarez lives in the 600 block of East Washington Street, jail records show.
